Chapter Thirteen

Rourke and Ty made their way to town about an hour later. No matter how much Ty protested and whined for a nap, Rourke had forced him to get up, promising him it would be worth it later.

They’d held hands for much of the remainder walk while quietly enjoying being together. Rourke had been afraid to speak. He was scared he’d open his mouth and his inner feelings would betray him.

He was falling for Ty. Not just falling a little like he’d be a good roll in the hay for a while. He was really and truly falling for him. He thought he’d sent the message to Ty when he’d taken him earlier that morning, making his intentions clear. Though he couldn’t quite be sure.

He didn’t want to scare Ty away by actually voicing his intentions either. It was obvious to even the most nimble minded that Ty had some commitment issues of some kind or another. The mere fact that he wouldn’t open up to Rourke about much of anything solidified that.

So he would be patient and wait. Whatever territory Ty was from, or whatever species he was, Rourke didn’t care. Ty was his and he would wait as long as he needed to in order to make Ty feel safe.

“This street looks familiar.” Ty smirked as they walked into town.

“Yeah. I almost pissed myself the other night in this very spot.”

“No you didn’t. Did you?” Ty asked with a crinkled nose.

“Yes. I could feel you watching me, but when no one would answer, it creeped me the fuck out.”

“Sorry. But as long as you didn’t actually piss yourself you couldn’t have been that scared,” Ty teased.

“No. I have a bit more bladder control than that. I don’t foresee pissing myself as a problem for at least another twenty years.”

“Yay!” Ty raised his hands in mock celebration. “I can hardly wait.”

Rourke smiled. He knew Ty was just being playful, but he couldn’t help but be damn happy at the thought of Ty being in his life for the next twenty years. Or even more. In fact, the thought made him very happy indeed.

Rourke stepped up onto a wooden boardwalk and pointed toward the door. “We’re here.”

“Falco Meats? Is this your shop?”

“Yep. That it is.”

“Look, I don’t mean to burst your bubble or anything. I mean, it’s cool that you have your own shop and all. But”—Ty leaned in to whisper—“if you wanted Falco meat, I could have told you where the best can be found.”

Rourke smirked with reply. “Yeah? And where exactly would that be?”

“Well it just so happens that I found a fine piece of Falco meat out in the Unicyn forest. As a matter of fact, I have been feasting on that delicious piece of man candy for the past two days.”

Rourke let out a boisterous laugh. “Yeah? This guy sounds pretty hot.”

“Oh trust me. He is!”

“Well, in the meantime, until you get another piece of your man candy, we have the best Muskeegan steaks you could ever ask for.
